Years of research shows that trauma & emotionally charged experiences can get physically frozen in time in your body. This occurs when normal processing got stuck due to the intensity of emotions. Those strong memories continue to live there in the present, interfering with your life, as if the memory is happening now.

When this disruption happens, you might begin to avoid certain situations for fear of being triggered. Maybe you’re hypervigilant, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Or you have a persistent self critic that keeps you from trying new things and developing meaningful relationships.
